STREET FOOD. STREET ART. STREET SOUNDS.
La Carnita is a celebration of urban culture through food, drink, art, and sound. Since starting from the pop-up, we're here: 3 locations scattered through the east, west, and middle of downtown Toronto. Dedicated to injecting Mexican street cuisine and graffiti with a gringo twist, La Carnita is the spot to grab a taco, take in the sights, run through a mixtape, and wash it all down with a 40 of Old English (high school you would be proud).
La Carnita slings everything from street corn, ceviche, and churros to ribs, empanadas, and paletas. Oh, and tacos. Lots, and lots of tacos. It’s all inspired by Mexican street cuisine and it’s all made in house.
In the pop-up days, it was illegal for La Carnita to sell food. So, we sold prints of our logo and gave tacos away for free. Today, the ‘Meathead’ is still reimagined by local and international artists but now the prints come free and the tacos cost money.
Have you ever eaten in silence? It’s borderline psychotic. That’s why La Carnita keeps a collection of soundtracks at the ready. Ranging from golden era hip hop to future rap classics, mixtapes are crafted by local Djs to keep you bobbing your head, not ripping your hair out.
IT'S NO MYSTERY THAT LA CARNITA CAME FROM MY LOVE FOR THE FOOD, ART, AND SOUNDS WE FIND IN OUR STREETS. BUT AS FOR WHERE LA CARNITA IS GOING...THE POSSIBILITIES ARE PRETTY MUCH ENDLESS.
